Søren Sveistrup is a Co-Founder, Writer-Creator and Executive Producer at SAM Productions.

Søren Sveistrup is an internationally acclaimed writer of several movies and TV series, which have had great audiences both domestically and internationally. From 2007 to 2012 Sveistrup was the creator and writer of The Killing (Forbrydelsen, da) part I-III, which has won several international awards, been sold to more than a hundred countries all over the world and which has been remade for AMC by Fox Television Studios in the US. Sveistrup was also the creator/writer of the drama series Nikolaj and Julie which won an International Emmy Award in 2003.

In addition to this, Sveistrup has written scripts for feature films, such as the original script for The Day Will Come (Der Kommer en Dag, da), released in April 2016, and the adaptation of Jo Nesbø’s famous crime thriller The Snowman. He also wrote the international bestselling novel, The Chestnut Man (Kastanjemanden, da, 2018) which has been published in more than 40 countries and adapted to a tv-series for Netflix.

Søren Sveistrup has won a great number of awards; The Prize for Best Crime Novel Debut (Kastanjemanden, 2019), a Robert award for Best Original Script (The Day Will Come, 2017), an Emmy Award for Best International TV series (Nikolaj and Julie, 2003), the Danish Broadcast Coorporation’s Matador-prize (2007), the Dramatist Association’s honorary prize (2008), the Golden Nymph (The Killing II, 2010), a BAFTA for Best International TV series (The Killing, 2011), the Crime Thriller Award (The Killing, 2011 and The Killing III, 2013),  a Robert award for Best TV Series (2013), the Audience Award (Forbrydelsen III, 2013) and The Crown Prince Couple’s Culture Prize (The Killing I-III, 2013). 

Sveistrup holds a Master of Literature and History from the University of Copenhagen and graduated as a scriptwriter from the National Film School of Denmark.
