Hide and Seek is a stand-alone sequel to The Chestnut Man (6 ep, 2021). With the first season focusing primarily on relationships between mothers and their children, this season focuses on families torn apart. It is a riveting and compelling crime series about infidelity and divorce. About children caught in the middle. About the innocence being taken away forever. And about a perpetrator who operates according to his own notion of what a family ought to be.

A 41-year-old divorced mother is reported missing. When the police in their search for her, investigates the woman’s digital footprint it becomes clear that she has been the victim of a violent form of stalking for months; an unidentified perpetrator has played an involuntary game of hide and seek, surveilling and photographing her in private situations and continuously sending her images and videos of her along with a seemingly innocent nursery rhyme style counting song. When shortly after the woman is found murdered, it is quickly realized that the killing can be linked to another –still unsolved- murder case, where a 17-year-old high school student was subject to the same type of violent stalking, before being killed too. But what is the connection between the two victims? And is the perpetrator done “playing” hide and seek?

The officer from Europol, Mark Hess, takes charge of the investigation and is once again joined by partner, Naia Thulin, but the relationship between the two detectives has developed and seems filled with unresolved romantic emotions.
